The TDS-100H ultrasonic flow meter is designed to measure the fluid velocity of liquid within a closed conduit.  The transducers are a non-contacting, clamp-on type, which will provide benefits of non-fouling operation and easy installation. The TDS-100H transit time ultrasonic flow meter utilizes two transducers that function as both ultrasonic transmitters and receivers. The transducers are clamped on the outside of a closed pipe at a specific distance from each other.  The transducers can be mounted in V-method where the sound transverses the pipe twice, or W-method where the sound transverses the pipe four times, or in Z-method where the transducers are mounted on opposite sides of the pipe and the sound crosses the pipe once.  This selection of the mounting method depends on pipe and liquid characteristics.
The ultrasonic hand held flow meter operates by alternately transmitting and receiving a frequency modulated burst of sound energy between the two transducers and measuring the transit time that it takes for sound to travel between the two transducers.  The difference in the transit time measured is directly and exactly related to the velocity of the liquid in the pipe. 

TDS series Handheld Ultrasonic Flow Meters are based on clamp-on transit-time flow measurement principle. It measures the flow rate of liquid in a pipe from outside of the pipe by using a pair of ultrasonic transducers. In general, the liquid should be full in the pipe, and should contain very little particles or bubbles. It is applicable for water (hot water, chill water, city water, sea water, etc.); sewage; oil (crude oil, lubricating oil, diesel oil, fuel oil, etc.); chemicals (alcohol, acids, etc.); waste; beverage and liquid food, solvents and other liquids. TDS-100H handheld ultrasonic flow meter is a battery-powered ultrasonic flow meter with the capability of a full-size flow meter. It is carefully designed for portability and ease of use.

TDS-100H portable type ultrasonic flow meter adopts built-in chargeable nickel-hydrogen batteries, which can work for about 20 hour after fully charged. It adopts intelligence charging method. The operator should insert one end of the configured power wire into the AC 220V port of the right side of the machine, and inserts the other end into the electrical outlet (AC 220V), and then the charging operation could be finished. After connecting the wires, the red light on the keyboard of the machine will glitter , which means it’ s charging. When it is fully charged, the red light will turn to green. Then the operator can pull out the wires and put away for nest use.

Typical Applications 
The TDS-100H portable ultrasonic flow meter can be virtually applied to a wide range of measurements. The measured pipe ranges 20-6000 mm [0.5 - 200 inch]. A variety of liquid applications can be accommodated: ultra-pure liquids, potable water, chemicals, raw sewage, reclaimed water, cooling water, river water, plant effluent, etc.   Because the instrument and transducers are non-contacting and have no moving parts, the ultrasonic flow meter can not be affected by system pressure, fouling or wear. Standard transducers are rated to 110 ºC.   Higher temperatures can be accommodated. For further information, please consult the manufacturer for assistance.

Data Integrity and Built-in Time-Keeper 
All user-inputted configuration values are retained in the built-in non-volatile flash memory that can store them for over 10 years, even if power is lost or turned off. Password protection is provided to avoid inadvertent configuration changes or totalizer resets.  A time-keeper is integrated in the ultrasonic flow meters for the index of date totalizing and works as the time base of flow accumulation. The Ultrasonic flow meters keeps operating as long as the battery’s terminal voltage is over 1.5V.  In case of battery failure, the time-keeper will not keep running and it will lose proper time values. The user must re-enter proper time values in case the battery becomes totally exhausted. An improper time value affects no other functions but the date totalizer.

Sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi Proses pengolahan air yang dilakukan oleh PDAM baik PDAM BUMD maupun perusahaan Swasta guna memenuhi kebutuhan rumah tangga dalam suatu kota biasanya mempunyai sistem pengolahan air yang sangat komplek. Proses produksi air guna kebutuhan masyarakat baik rumah tangga, industry, hotel dan lainnya memerlukan suatu proses yang panjang dimana jenis sumber air yang diproses memberikan karakteristik jenis proses produksi yang tersendiri.

 

Agar bisa menghitung jumlah kebutuhan sumber bahan baku air terhadap hasil produksi biasanya di baca dan di hitung dengan menggunakan alat ukur flow meter yang berfungsi untuk membaca debit air dan menghitung besarnya serta kapasitas hasil proses produksi.

Ada dua jenis aliran dalam pipa pada peroses Produksi PDAM yaitu aliran karena perbedaan ketinggian dan aliran karena menggunakan tekanan Mesin atau Pompa. Begitu juga material pipa yang digunakan pada proses ada yang menggunakan pipa Carbon steel, pipa PVC dan Pipa HDPE.

Coriolis Mass Flowmeter


Coriolis mass flowmeter is developed according to the principle of coriolis mass flow meter, it can be directly measure parameters such as mass flow , density and temperature. It has been widely used in petroleum, natural gas, chemical, pipeline transportation industries. Its function is for trade settlement and process control to ensure precision reflection, enhanced safety and maintenance cost save.

AMF series Coriolis meter's mass flow can yield up to 0.15% accuracy. It is incredibly accurate and excellent repetition. And allows you as producer to make consistency and repeatability of batches.

Coriolis mass Flow meter model RHM 03 for Low flow and Very High Pressure Applications. The RHM 03 can measure flow rates up to 05 kg/min with temperatures up to 350C and pressure up to 1067 bar with the uniqe Omega shape sensore technolody. Rheonik Coriolis Flow Meter

The continuing need for more accurate flow measurements in mass-related processes (chemical reactions, heat transfer, etc.) has resulted in the development of mass flowmeters. Various designs are available, but the one most commonly used for liquid flow applications is the Coriolis meter. Its operation is based on the natural phenomenon called the Coriolis force, hence the name.

A coriolis flowmeter is a mass flowmeter to directly and continuously measure the “mass”, the only characteristic of fluid that is not affected by the change in temperature, pressure, viscosity, and density of it. Based on a unique principle utilizing Coriolis force, wide range of mass flowrate based system can be configured by detecting the mass flowrate in high accuracy and sensitivity and converting it to analog or frequency output. In addition to general liquids, flowrate of foods, chemicals, slurry, high-density gas, etc. can be measured. A major feature of the Coriolis flowmeter is a complex sensor that can measure
temperature and density simultaneously with flowrate.

Coriolis meters are true mass meters that measure the mass rate of flow directly as opposed to volumetric flow. Because mass does not change, the meter is linear without having to be adjusted for variations in liquid properties. It also eliminates the need to compensate for changing temperature and pressure conditions. The meter is especially useful for measuring liquids whose viscosity varies with velocity at given temperatures and pressures.

Coriolis meters are also available in various designs. A popular unit consists of a U-shaped flow tube enclosed in a sensor housing connected to an electronics unit. The sensing unit can be installed directly into any process. The electronics unit can be located up to 500 feet from the sensor.

Flowmeter adalah alat yang digunakan untuk mengukur laju aliran linier, nonlinier, massa atau volume dari liquid, gas ataupun solid .

Dasar Pemilihan Jenis Flow Meter untuk mendapatkan flow meter yang sesuai adalah memahami dengan benar tentang persyaratan yang ditentukan berdasarkan aplikasi flowmeter terhadap jenis fluid, dan persyaratan lainnya. Oleh karena itu, perlu waktu dalam mengevaluasi sifat dari proses fluida dan instalasi secara keseluruhan sebelum ditentukan jenis flow meter yang akan digunakan..
Berikut adalah beberapa pertanyaan kunci yang perlu dijawab sebelum memilih jenis flow meter:
  • Apakah Jenis cairan yang diukur oleh flowmeter atau flowmeters (udara, air, dll ...)?

Pada dasarnya pada flow meter terdapat dua bagian yang utama yaitu sensor dan indicator. Flow Sensor digunakan untuk menaangkap prilaku dari fluid yang akan diukur yang diteruskan ke indicator sehingga tujuan dari pemasangan flow meter sesuai dengan yang tujuan yang diharapkan.

Ketika akan memilih jenis flow meter, harus mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor non teknis seperti pengenalan dengan baik flow meter terhadap operator di pabrik, pengalaman mereka dengan kalibrasi dan pemeliharaan, ketersediaan suku cadang, dan pengalaman terhadap cara mengoprasikan dan kesalahan lainnya. Yang perlu juga menjadi pertimbangan adalah biaya installasi yag harus dipertimbangkan setelah pemilihan jenis flow meter. Kesalahan paling umum dalam menentukan jenis sensor flow meter adalah menggunakan logika terbalik yaitu dengan memilih  flow meter berdasarkan harga yaang murah. Jika ini dilakukan maka yang terjadi adalah biaya installasi dan oprasional akan mahal.
Dasar Pemilihan Jenisi flow meter yang benar adalah adalah pemahaman yang menyeluruh dan jelas tentang persyaratan aplikasi tertentu. Oleh karena itu, perlu waktu dalam mengevaluasi secara keseluruhan dari sifat fluida, proses dan oprasional.

Langkah pertama dalam pemilihan sensor flow meter adalah untuk menentukan apakah informasi flow rate  harus terus menerus atau ditotal, dan apakah informasi ini diperlukan lokal atau jarak jauh. Jika jarak jauh, harus transmisi menjadi analog, digital, atau dibagi terhadap fungsi lainnya ? Karena itu perlu ditentukan sebagai acuan kita apasaja data minimal yang diperlukan. Setelah pertanyaan-pertanyaan ini dijawab, evaluasi sifat dan karakteristik aliran dari fluida proses, dan pipa yang akan menampung dipasang flow meter tersebut, harus berlangsung. Electromagnetic flow meter merupakan flow meter yang hanya bisa di gunakan untuk mengukur aliran liquid yang mempunyai conductivity yang mencukupi sesuai dengan yang disyaratkan manufacture flow meter tersebut. 
Magnetic flow meter mempunyai berbagai jenis material disesuaiakn dengan aplikasi pnggunaan di lapanagn. Begitu juga dlam installasinya magnetic flow meter ini ada yang dipasang dengan memotong pipa maupun ada yang dengan cara melubangi pipa dan sensor electromagnetic tinggal di insertakan ke dalam lubang tersebut,

Electromagnetic flow meter bahkan bisa juga di aplikasikan untuk ukuran aliran yang kecil atau disebut dengan low velocity flow meter. Untuk aplikasi tertentu material dari flow meter ini bisa dibuat dari stainless steel bahkan material non metal atau plastic.


Penggunaan flow meter electromagnetic ini jika di gunakan untuk aliran yang sangat kotor, mengandung banyak lumpur, waste water, sea water, liquid mempunyai PH yang ekstrem pada aplikasi cairan kimia maupun yang lainnya bisa digunakan dengan menyesuaikan bahan flow meter electromagnetis seperti jenis material electrode, material linner, material flange and hause.

Menentukan Type Flow Meter


Pemilihan Jenis Flow Meter 

Flow meter merupakan instrumen guna mengukur aliran dari suatu fluida baik liquid, sludge maupun gas, baik bertemperatur rendah hingga temperatur tinggi. Dalam memilih flow meter harus disesuaikan dengan kondisi fluid dan fungsi flowmeters itu sendiri. Karakteristik dari fluida yang diukur oleh flow meter sangat luas sekali mulai dari tingkat corosive fluida dimana untuk fluida yang tingkat keasamannya tinggi mungkin lebih cocok jika di guankan flowmeter bahan dari PVC / non logam.

Untuk fluida yang temperaturnya tinggi tentunya digunakan matrial lain. Begitu juga untuk tingkat kepekatan matrial fluida jenis flowmeter harus disesuaikan. Untuk fluida yang diaplikasikan pada bahan makanan atau obat-obatan yang menuntut pipa dan flowmeter yang harus food grade lebih cocok kalo dipakai stainles steel SUS 316L. Dan untuk lingkungan yang corisive seperti di laut mungkin body dan flange flow meter lebih pas jika menggunakan stainless steel. rotameter

    • Jenis Fluid yang akan diukur pada flow meter 
      • Jenis Fluida yang diukur oleh flow meter dapat berupa : Steam, air, Water, wet gas, Liquid gas, chemical, oil, solid, sludge, powder atau cement.

The model SL3488 in line ultrasonic flow meter (here in after referred to as SL3488)  is a true state-of-the-art transit-time flow meter designed using PICOFLY technology and  0.01 nanosecond (10 pico seconds) resolution; the flow sample rate achieved is 256 discrete flow measurements per second, which provides a true high dynamic response flowmeter.

Measurement Site Selection

SL3488 in line ultrasonic flow meter is easy and convenient to install. When the measured pipe size is consistent with the spool piece size, you can select a proper measurement site and install the meter which is ready to use. When selecting a measurement site, it is important to select an area where the fluid flow profile is fully developed to guarantee a highly accurate measurement. Use the following  guidelines to select a proper measurement installation site :

    • Choose a sect ion of pipe, which is always full of liquid, such as a vertical pipe with flow in the upward direction or a full  horizontal pipe.
    • Generally,  it requires at least 10 D (pipe diameters) upstream & 5D (pipe diameters) downstream. If there is a pump, a tee section, control valve, orifice, expansion joint or other element which could cause flow disturbances, the upstream straight pipe required will  be greater than 10D
    • Ensure that the pipe surf ace temperature at the measuring point is within the transducer temperature limits




Spool Piece Transducer Installation Methods



  • Install the Ultrasonic Transducer flow meter on horizontal and vertical pipes 

        • Note : Make sure the pipe is full of liquid

  • Install the Ultrasonic Transducer f low meter after elbows, valves and pumps 

        • Note : Ensure the pipe on both sides of the flow meter is  straight. 

  • Install the Ultrasonic Transducer flow meter in a pipe that discharges to atmosphere 

        • Note : Transducers should not be installed on a pipe that discharges to atmosphere  unless it is far enough upstream to be sure the pipe is full at the point of installation 

  • For a partially filled pipe section, ensure the pipe section being measured is full of liquid 

        • Note : The ultrasonic flow meter should be installed in a pipeline that is full of fluid. If the pipe is not full or there is only  one free horizontal  pipe (discharge), connect the transducer in  the lower part of the pipe. 

  • Avoid installing the ultrasonic flow meter at the upper part of a pipe sect ion like the above 

        • Note: Air pockets or air locks can collect in this type of  pipe sections
